Which of the following is a theory used to explain why the crime rate for adolescents and young adults is so dramatically high in comparison to other groups?
◦ Adolescence and young adulthood is a time in which one seeks independence from parents and is reinforced by their peers to commit various crimes.
◦ From a biological perspective, one's genetic code begins to unfold during adolescence and this predisposes the individual to commit crimes.
◦ Since the crime rate is much higher for males, it is believed that testosterone triggers criminal behaviors during adolescence and young adulthood.
◦ Adolescents and young adults are negatively influenced by media violence, and this in turn causes them to commit crimes.
