She is complaining of severe pain in her left leg and you notice that the leg is angulated. On examination, there is no distal pulse. The best course of treatment for this patient would be to ________.
◦ explain to the patient that, because you cannot detect circulation in her foot, her leg will most likely have to be amputated above the site of the injury
