Description: Starlings normally migrate from breeding grounds in Scandinavia and northeastern Europe through the Netherlands and northern Germany to overwintering sites in northern France and southeast England. This involves a southwest flight. When juveniles were captured in the Netherlands and moved to Switzerland, they continued on in a southwestern direction and ended up in Spain. When experienced birds were captured and moved, they flew to the normal overwintering areas.
