Description: The fundus, corpus (body of the uterus), and the cervix are the regions of the uterus. The perimetrium is the outer covering of the uterus. The myometrium is the layer of smooth muscle that makes up the uterine wall. The endometrium is the layer of glands and tissue that lines the intrauterine cavity. The ovary contains a follicle that ruptures and releases an ovum. Movements of the fimbriae draw the ovum into the lumen of the uterine tube that goes to the uterus.
