| Description: An optical biopsy is done without ever removing tissue from the tumor. The endoscope lens creates an image of the area and displays it on a computer screen in the operating room. A laser probe passed through the endoscope creates a microscopic image of the tumor cells that is displayed on a second computer screen. The computer image is saved and studied to determine the diagnosis.
