Description: This patient is having a PA (posteroanterior) chest x-ray. The x-ray machine projects a set of crossed lines onto the patient’s back to help the technologist center the x-ray beam. The patient is asked to remain still so that the radiograph will not show motion artifact (a blurred image). The ¬x-rays penetrate the patient’s posterior chest. They exit through the patient’s anterior chest, enter the x-ray plate, and create an image.
