Description: (a) Large numbers of male greater sage grouse (Centrocercus urophasianus) gather on display grounds, leks, to perform a strutting display for gathering females. If a female is interested in a particular male, she will solicit a copulation from him. (b) Males fan their pointed tail feathers, hold their head feathers erect, strut around, swish their wings and produce air sac “plops†to get the attention of females.
