Shapes of molecules
Previous Image | Next Image
Description: Molecules can assume different shapes depending on the types of bonds between their atoms. The angles between groups of atoms are well defined. For example, in liquid water at room temperature, the angle formed by the bonds of each hydrogen to oxygen is approximately 104.5°. This bond angle can vary slightly, depending on the temperature and degree of hydrogen bonding between adjacent water molecules.
