The Secondary Mirror Does Not Create a Hole in the Image
Previous Image | Next Image
Description: Because the light rays from distant objects are parallel, light from the entire object reflects off all parts of the
mirror. Therefore, every part of the object sends photons to the eyepiece. This figure shows the reconstruction of the entire
Moon from light passing through just part of this telescope. The same drawing applies everywhere on the primary mirror
that is not blocked by the secondary mirror.
