Description: Urton and Hobson collected hair samples for 18 mammal species, and subjected them to isotopic analysis. As you can see in figure 7.13a, these species differ greatly in their isotopic signatures, even though they all were collected from a single study site in central Saskatchewan. You may even notice that most of the carnivore species are relatively enriched in 15N and 13C compared to the herbivorous species. Perhaps more surprising is that they found substantial variation in the isotopic signatures of individual wolves, both within and among different areas of the study site
