Replicative senescence in hematopoietic development

Replicative senescence in hematopoietic development
Previous Image | Next Image
Description: In this model we have addressed the question if hematopoiesis is compatible with a restriction in cell divisions (e.g. 50 cell divisions). Upon each division the daughter cells may either remain on the same maturation level or proceed to the next step of differentiation. Proliferation rates increase upon differentiation and the estimated times are indicated for each maturation step. Mature cells are post-mitotic and die after 20 days.
