Description: Li et al. (2011) used a viral vector to increase expression of dopamine D2 receptors in the striatum of mice. As a result, GABAergic transmission decreased in the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex, and the abnormal neural activity there led to behavioral deficits characteristic of schizophrenia.
