Identify the Main Term
Previous Image | Next Image
Description: m Identify the Main Term Continue with the example of a patient who presents with a lesion on the back. There are four ways to look up the procedure. Using the acronym or eponym does not apply to this case because there is not an acronym or eponym for removal of lesions. You may look up the name of the procedure, Excision. You may also look up the organ sys- tem or anatomic site, Skin. Remember that the skin is an organ. These lesions are located on the “skin,” not on the back or other body area. In the CPT manual, en— tries for back procedures reference the internal muscu— loskeletal structure of the back, not the skin of the back. Finally, you may look up a Main Term for the condition under Lesion.
