Description: Amid fears that Japanese Americans were “enemies within” who would sabotage industrial and military installations on the West Coast, in the early days of World War II Japanese Americans were transferred to “relocation camps.” To make sure they didn’t get lost, the children were tagged like luggage. This is one of two major examples of population transfer in the United States. The other is transferring Native Americans to reservations.
