Description: Life cycle of acetylcholine (Ach): (1) Ach is released into the synaptic cleft; (2) Ach binds to receptors on the postsynaptic membrane; (3) Ach is broken down into acetate and choline. (4) Choline is returned to the presynaptic neuron and recycled to make additional Ach.
