Description: Mechanisms of action of antidepressants: (a) In adrenergic and serotonergic neurons the activity of the neurotransmitter is terminated by reuptake. (b) Tricyclic antidepressants and SSRIs produce their effects by inhibiting the reuptake of neurotransmitters.
