Description: Some transmembrane proteins have regions that project into the cytosol and are anchored to large cytoskeletal filaments (via linker proteins), restricting lateral movement. Being bound to these cytoskeletal filaments restricts the lateral movement of these proteins. Similarly, some integral membrane proteins bind to large, immobile components in the extracellular matrix, restricting their movement.
