Description: Apply fascial mobilization in one direction using a palm. Stand to the side of the face cradle; place one hand over the other, and make contact with the area between the shoulder blade and the spinous processes. Press into the tissue until you engage the surface of the muscular layer beneath. Shift your engagement horizontally toward the pelvis until you feel tension in the fascial tissues. Hold that tension steadily for 2–5 minutes until you feel movement or “giving” within the tissues. Variations (not shown): Use both palms or a loosely held fist to apply pressure; apply in any direction and in any area of the back.
