Description: A widely used protocol for conducting database searches is the
   Basic Local Alignment Search Tool (BLAST).

The suite of BLAST programs can be used to find the best alignment between the sequences of any two proteins.

If two aligned protein sequences share at least 25% amino acid sequence identity they will have similar structure and, very likely, similar function.
