Regulation of the activity of bacterial glutamine synthetase

Regulation of the activity of bacterial glutamine synthetase
Previous Image | Next Image
Description: The complex of AT (adenylyltransferase) and (a regulatory protein) catalyzes both the adenylylation and deadenylylation of glutamine synthetase (GS), depending on whether is deuridylylated (left) or uridylylated (right).

Uridylylation of is catalyzed by uridylyltransferase (UT), and deuridylylation is catalyzed by uridylyl-removing enzyme (UR), both activities part of a bifunctional enzyme.
