Description: A proto-oncogene is a normal cellular gene that can be converted to an oncogene and cause transformation to a cancer cell. This process can occur in two ways: 1. Infection by a virus, which integrates into a chromosomal site next to a proto-oncogene and carries that gene along in its own genome when the virus replicates. 2. Mutation of the cellular proto-oncogene. Picture Stats: Views: 244 Filesize: 143.67kB Height: 450 Width: 710 Source: https://biology-forums.com/index.php?action=gallery;sa=view;id=34885 |
