Description: The initiator tRNA is special since it recognizes and binds to the AUG codon that would normally code for methionine, but it actually carries an N-formylmethionine.
The formyl group is added after  charging of the tRNA, by an enzyme (transformylase) that recognizes the particular tRNAfMet and transfers a formyl group from 10-formyltetrahydrofolate
