Description: Peloponnese, Greece. 4th century BCE and later. Greek theaters No theater survives in its original form, however, the theater at Epidauros is a characteristic early example. A semicircle of tiered seats was built into the hillside and faced the orchestra, the circular performance area, and proscenium platform stage. This design provided uninterrupted sight lines and excellent acoustics.
