Description: The position of the babies in the womb is called the "stance" and the closest part to the uterus is the "leading part". In the 96% of pregnancies, the leading part is the beginning. Under normal conditions, the baby's face has to stand in the back, facing the backbone of the mother. (Figure A) On this count the baby enters the birth channel with the smallest diameter. This is called the ideal position and the birth is easy in this way. Sometimes these occurrences may slow down the normal birth and progress to the heel causing difficult birth.
