Summary of chromosome movements in meiosis
Previous Image | Next Image
Description: Replicated homologous chromosomes become visible in prophase I. At metaphase I, homologous pairs of chromosomes line up at the equator of the cell and separate from each other in anaphase I. In meiosis II, the centromeres split, and sister chromatids form individual chromosomes. Each of the resulting haploid cells has one set of chromosomes.
