Reversible and nonreversible cell injury
Previous Image | Next Image
Description: The flow chart starts at normal cell, homeostasis. This flows to stress, which flows to adaptation. When the cell does not adapt, it flows to cell injury. Normal cell also flows to injury, which flows to cell injury. If the injury is transient or mild it flows to reversible injury, which flows back to normal cell, homeostasis. If the injury is progressive or severe, it flows to irreversible injury, which flows to two types of cell death. necrosis and apoptosis.
