| Description: The process starts with recognition of a pathogen to be destroyed, which is followed by initial signaling from the cell surface. The pathogen is engulfed by the leukocyte, which once fully engulfed, creates phagosomes. Then signaling is facilitated by membrane receptor recruitment to the formatting phagosome.
