| Description: There are three types of muscles—skeletal muscles, the cardiac muscle, and smooth muscles. Each has a different appearance under a microscope. Note the very pronounced color bands (striations) and multiple nuclei in each skeletal muscle cell. Cardiac muscle cells have less pronounced bands, and nonstriated smooth muscle cells have no bands.
