Description: Meet the star-nosed mole, a bizarre little creature native to north eastern America. The 22 tentacles are incredibly sensitive both to touch and to electrical impulses and are used by the mole to find and identify invertebrate prey. These tentacles have 25,000 receptive organs in one square centimetre.
Their incredible sensory organs make them a prime target for research for brain and behaviour specialists.
