Description: Vasectomy. (a) Vas deferens is located within the spermatic cord on both sides. (b) A small incision is made through the scrotum, and an instrument is inserted that gently separates the vas deferens from other tissues of the spermatic cord. Once separated, the vas deferens is pulled out gently. (c) The vas deferens is cut and the exposed ends cauterized to close them. (d) The vas deferens is returned to the spermatic cord, tucked back into the scrotum, and a single suture closes the incision. The vas deferens on the other side is then cut in a duplicate procedure.
