Description: Ectopic pregnancies. (a) An ectopic pregnancy may occur in any of the locations shown. Interstitial pregnancy is the most common, with implantation occurring near the union of a fallopian tube and uterus. An ovarian pregnancy has the unfortunate result of destroying the ovary. (b) An abdominal pregnancy is shown at full term. Note that the fetus is surrounded by the amnion, but outside the uterus.
