Description: (a) In the absence of gibberellin, DELLA binds transcription factors and gibberellin-response genes are not expressed. (b) When gibberellin binds to the protein GID1, GID1 can bind DELLA proteins. Such binding causes DELLA proteins to be degraded. As a result, transcription factors that had been bound to DELLA proteins are released and can bind to gene promoters, thereby inducing gene expression.
