Answer to Question 1

White middle class women have more resources, more institutional approval and support,
are more likely to have adequate income, more likely to have a working male in the
home, have better access to medical care, including health maintenance, nutrition, and
access to abortion should it be chosen. The educational and occupational opportunities
for the daughter are greater, at the time and in the future. Political and social support are
greater. The stigma of lowering class or violating family values is more easily
overcome. Other points may be discussed.

People who have myopia, or nearsightedness, are not able to see objects at a distance but only up close. It occurs when the cornea is either curved too steeply, the eye is too long, or both. This condition is progressive and worsens with time. More than 100 million people in the United States are nearsighted, but only 20% of those are born with the condition. Diet, eye exercise, drug therapy, and corrective lenses can all help manage nearsightedness.
