Answer to Question 1

Although plenty of men may volunteer to provide stud service, the process may not really be
all that simple for women who seek to be mothers. Many lesbians may prefer artificial
insemination rather than engage in the sexual act. If an donor is used (known or unknown),
there may still be the donors legal and family obligations to consider  when or whether to
inform the child of the fathers identity, the donors parents may wish to be acknowledged as
grandparents, the donor may return later in life and seek to assume fathering roles, will the
donors legal anonymity actually be preserved over a lifetime  these types of problems tend to
surface long after for the biological parent to deal with.
Oftentimes, children may eventually desire to learn their father's identity in unknown donor
cases, which creates legal and personal concerns. The children may have to deal with the
consequences of their mothers (and fathers) decisions, even though their parent did not wish to
create a problem for their child.
