Answer to Question 1

Answer: Men have much lower standards than women do for the intelligence level of one-night stand partners. However, they have very similar standards for long-term relationships.

Answer to Question 2

Answer: Based in part on research with lesbians, the textbook suggests that women are not concerned about pregnancy. Rather, they tend to shun causal sex because it will not fulfill the goals they have for relationships: love and intimacy.
