In the formula for change, one step is to think of a better way to accomplish the positive intention of your self-defeating behavior. What is another way of saying this?
 
  a. After you identify the change you want to make in your behavior, you need to develop needed resourcesinformatio n and support.
  b. After identifying what the problem behavior was trying to do for you, develop alternative behaviors that will work as well or better.
  c. In order to make the changes that you want to make in your behavior you have to develop the will power to overcome your objections.
  d. It's very important to have a good reason for wanting to make a change in behavior so that you're willing to make the effort.

Why do people engage in self-defeating behavior even when they state that they really want to make a change?
