Describe two things that could lead to personality change in adulthood. Explain your answers, showing how the change would happen and how common it is.

Answer to Question 1

Answers will vary but may include one's ecological niche and such things as the
death of a spouse, a new career, moving to a new cultural setting, taking
mood-altering medications, and age.

Answer to Question 2

Answers will vary, but students should demonstrate that for both men and women,
having multiple roles should protect them from the stresses of midlife and from
strains in their careers.
