Answer to Question 1

Sternberg's three forms of intelligence include analytic intelligence, which involves
abstract planning, strategy selection, focused attention, and information processing;
creative intelligence, which includes intellectual flexibility and innovation; and
practical intelligence, which includes adaptability and intellectual skills used in
problem solving. Forms of intelligence that you used to answer this question and
why you used them will vary.

Answer to Question 2

Answers will vary but may include the following: (1) In general, intellectual abilities
increase slightly from the beginning of adulthood until midlife and then remain stable
through middle adulthood. (2) Age-related declines in intellectual functioning are first
noted in items that require quick thinking and speedy reaction time. (3) Intellectual
functioning as measured by IQ tests is powerfully influenced by years of schooling in
childhood, adolescence, and early adulthood, and some of a person's level of
intellectual functioning throughout adulthood is a direct result of education received
years earlier. (4) Especially during adulthood, intelligence follows many patterns of
development. (5) Experts, in comparisons with novices, are able to keep their
abilities at high levels.
