Answer to Question 1

Answers may vary, but should include three of the following: (1) availability of
alcohol; (2) cultural values; (3) biochemical make-up (related to place of origin); (4)
personality traits, such as having a quick temper, a readiness to take risks, and a
high level of anxiety.

Answer to Question 2

All of the additive genes for a particular trait contribute fairly equally. Dominantrecessive
genes relate in such a way that the phenotype reveals the dominant gene
more than the recessive gene. Examples will vary but should demonstrate students'
knowledge that with additive genes, the resulting phenotype will be a combination of
all alleles, and with dominant-recessive genes, the resulting phenotype will reflect
the dominant gene (at least mostly).
