Charles Spearman suggested that there were two factors that make up intelligence: the g factor, or general intelligence, represents broad reasoning and problem-solving abilities. Specific capacities, or s factors, account for individual abilities. Louis Thurstone believed that intelligence consisted of specific factors, which he called primary mental abilities. These included visual-spatial abilities, perceptual speed, the ability to learn meanings of words, numerical ability, and ability to reason. Robert Sternberg constructed a three-part theory of intelligence consisting of analytical intelligence, creative intelligence, and practical intelligence. Howard Gardiner believed that there are various kinds of intelligences, which different in quality. These include linguistic, logical-mathematical, spatial, musical, kinesthetic, and interpersonal.
