Answer to Question 1

Piaget believed that learning involves activity discovery. Therefore, teachers should not simply try to impose knowledge on the child but should find interesting and stimulating materials. Instruction should be geared to the child's level of development. The teacher should not just lecture but should allow children to be actively engaged in their learning. Teachers should promote groups discussions and interactions among students.

Answer to Question 2

Infant cries mean many things. They may signal hunger, pain, anger and so forth. Some high-pitched cries may signal health problems, such as exposure to drugs, neurological abnormalities, and other problems. Some cries may signal colic, which involves pain from gas or other digestive tract problems. Adults, especially parents, become more attuned to cries, which also become more recognizable over time. With this experience, adults may also learn when they can safely ignore a cry and when they need to respond.
