B

Answer to Question 2

Jean Jacques Rousseau's view of development embraced the idea of the child as a noble savage, meaning that children are born with the propensity to act on impulses but not necessarily with the aim of wrongdoing. Rousseau emphasized the dynamic relationship between the curious and energetic child and the demands of his social environment as represented by adults. He believed that a major aspect of the process of development is the resolution of conflicts between the individual tendencies of the child and the needs of the larger society.
