The student should assert that traditional households with fulltime mothers have increased. Three reasons cited are 1. the economic boom of the late 1990s and early 21st century, which allowed more families to survive on one income; 2. the influence of a growing Hispanic population that favors traditional families, and 3. a generation of adults who were raised as latchkey children and want a stay-at-home parent for their children.
