Answer to Question 1

People derive various meanings from their work but there are four common meanings: developing self, experiencing union with others, expressing self, and serving others. People experience the workplace as an area of personal fulfillment. The concept called meaning-mission fit explains how corporate executives with a better alignment between their personal intentions and their firm's mission care more about their employees' happiness, job satisfaction, and emotional well-being. Holland's personality-type theory proposes that people choose occupations to optimize the fit between their individual traits and their occupational interests. His personality types (investigative, social, realistic, artistic, conventional, and enterprising) are related to occupations. People tend to choose occupations and careers that they like.
