We do know from the available research that the family is the primary influence on Native Americans' sexual scripts. For instance, one body of research found that involvement with family and family support, and the family's scholastic values, were associated with safer sexual behaviors. Another recent study found that the strongest influence of positive sexual scripts among Native Americans was having a father present in the home.
