Rousseau's indifference to art traditions resulted in paintings like The Dream, which depicted a lush, complex design that does not exist in real life. Kusama's Love is Calling employed mirrors and inflatable tentacle-like forms covered in polka dots to create a hallucinatory environment in which viewers can lose themselves in wonder.
