An unsolicited letter is more challenging to write because an individual does not know if the company to which he or she is writing has any job openings.

Answer to Question 2

Unlike the print resume, in which verbs demonstrate the applicant's skills, the scannable resume uses nouns in lists of the applicant's skills, qualifications, and job titles.
