Answer to Question 1

A
A collective noun is one that refers to a group, or collection, of persons or things. Because a
collective noun may be either singular or plural, its correct number may not be easily
recognized.

Answer to Question 2

A
Nobody is an indefinite pronoun. When certain indefinite pronoun subjects such as nobody
are used as subjects and when they modify other subjects, their predicates must be singular.
