The reticulocyte count is elevated in all hemolytic anemias at the time of hemolysis (unless an aplastic crisis is present). Of the other procedures listed only flow cytometry is sensitive enough to be useful for the diagnosis of paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria.
