Answer to Question 1

In the event the patient displays body language that lets the manager know he does not want to be touched, the manager should avoid using therapeutic touch. These nonverbal messages include the patient pulling away from the manager. In such a case, the manager can use her own body language and facial expressions to show the patient she is compassionate.
